White Light Image

Culgoora Solar Observatory White light images are used for the observation of sunspots.

Sunspots are an indication of solar region magnetic complexity and the likelyhood of solar flare activity.

For more information on sunpots see the Solar Help page or our Educational Pages.

Please Note: The new instrument is scheduled to come on-line in 2017, with improved optics and higher resolution imagery.
